John Dunne, Artistic Director, Irish Theatre (aka London Irish Theatre)

Picture
John Dunne
John Dunne is a writer, producer and director (not to mention stage manager) with many years experience. He has run a number of theatre companies, all sharing the same ethos as Irish Theatre presents... with a current artistic policy focusing solely on new Irish work.

John's most notable work includes his trilogy of Irish plays (Famine, Easter and Belfast) as well as a trilogy of plays set in the Cooley mountains (Long Woman's Grave, Cattle Raid of Cooley and The Curse of Macha). In addition to his own work, John has produced and directed a number of Irish plays written by new Irish writers. John also freelances as a script editor, director and stage manager.

John has also adapted a number of English classic novels ranging from Jane Austen to Charles Dickens to Thomas Hardy with a number of children's classics on the way (Railway Children and Secret Garden to name but two). John has also written a large number of awareness-raising issue plays, most notably for Age Concern as well as the voluntary sector and business community.

If you like what we're doing in promoting new Irish theatre writing then why not donate whatever you can. We are currently unfunded and rely totally on box office income. Any item gratefully received, just press the donate button opposite.
