Beginning to realise that the tour will come to an end in a couple of weeks, a tour that has dominated both Nik and I for a 15 week period. The Dublin shows should be good, especially now we have an extra hand on board, Lillian Taaffe, who is a well connected Beatle fan who can point us in the right direction.
Of course now is a good time to look forward with a murder mystery on the horizon (in Omeath and Belfast) and a one-handed Dickens in Love with Tim Skelton due for a handful of performances in December. And as for next year, we shall have to wait and see. There may be further productions in Omeath and Belfast and a strong possibility of doing a play about the history of leprechauns in April.
As for further touring, the economy in Ireland is pretty dire at the moment with audiences generally down on previous years. Theatre relies on audiences, venues and shows and all three elements need to be fit for purpose otherwise the whole edifice tumbles in to the sea, or the above lough if you like. And as for London and the UK, forget it!
