You can imagine how annoyed we were to find a lot of our print material still on the managers desk the evening we arrived at the venue. To add insult to injury, the manager then decided to engage in an argument with Nik ten minutes before curtain which is the most unprofessional thing we have seen a manager do.
It was only our duty of care towards the audience, all of which were comps because the theatre failed to sell a single seat, that we continued with the show and didn't walk out of the venue. The key point to this post is to stress that venues have a duty of care towards visiting companies to push the print material they request and not engage in arguments ten minutes before going up. Our advice to visiting companies to the Fisher Theatre, Bungay is simple, avoid! My final comment is that theatre managers who can't do their jobs should be sacked - theatre's are too valuable to be left in the charge of people who are not fit to run them!
